Thawing Instructions

Thank you for purchasing our Texas-raised, premium Akaushi beef.  To ensure peak freshness and flavor, please follow these simple thawing techniques…

  • Thaw in the refrigerator for 24-36 hours for steak cuts and 48 hours for whole cuts
    (do not thaw at room temperature, microwave or warm sink with water)
  • Keep in vacuum-sealed packaging while in the refrigerator
  • Remove from refrigerator (and packaging) and bring to room temperature 30 minutes to 1 hour before cooking
  • Do not re-freeze the meat once it has been defrosted

Key Facts about Akaushi beef:

  • …it can be stored frozen for 12 months
  • …its fat has a much lower melting point than regular beef – so it cooks more quickly
  • …it is completely normal for the frozen beef to have a slight greyish color when frozen (the red color will return when thawed and exposed to oxygen)
